A word from the artist

When you buy a design from me, you are getting much more than a functional accessory.  You are getting a piece of art that will  last.

I want to point out the difference in Jill Atkins Designs purses, jewelry and other items.  All of my purses and some jewelry are meticulously sewn by hand...my hand. My work looks to the future in that I hand stitch all the beads using quality thread for durability of the product.  Other products on the market glue strings of beads to the fabric because it is fast—but be warned, it will not hold up over time.  Glues, beads and fabric are not kind to one another with the passage of time. Spray acrylic is not an option in holding the work together.  Likewise the fabric I use is chosen for its coloration and character.  These pieces are designed to outlast you-- into several generations.  All the designs are created and sewn by me.  There is no off-shore production facility or sweat shop.

My work is guaranteed for life...my life.  And I expect to live a very long time!  Should there be a problem with one of my art pieces please return it to me and I will repair and return to you. No charge.  I am only a "click" away at this web-site and want to hear from you.

Many of my pieces take up to two years to create because original art work needs time to come to fruition.  You will be the only one owning a particular bag or piece of jewelry seen on this web-site.  I do not make an original and have it mass-produced.  Each bag and some of the necklaces have stories written about them.  Every purse comes with its own storage bag.  (When I first produced this line many people exclaimed delight over the storage bag and I had to direct them to the purse contained inside.)  All purses are lined and have an inside pocket.  When I use an outside zipper it is an invisible zipper to provide security to the contents inside.

I love to design one-of-a-kind pieces and can do a custom design for you or your organization.  I once designed two grand piano purses for the Chairman of the Board of our local symphony.  She kept the white baby grand piano purse and the black baby grand piano purse  was donated by me as a lucrative auction item for a symphony fund-raiser.  Should you need a very special item, I ask that you give me lead time to design and create a wonderful piece for you.

Soon to be added to this web-site is my Wedding Train purse.  It is designed to be a carrying piece for a bride, used to collect monetary gifts at the reception and later to be framed and displayed.  The purse is white, trimmed with real pearls and will incorporate the bride's colors.  It is 38 inches long and very dramatic!  (A snippet of a picture is on one of the other pages at the top....look for the white raw silk, cranberry pearls, paua shell leaf, crystals.)
